John Prette is a business and technology leader with over 25 years of IT experience in IT Governance, Portfolio Management, Project Management, Business Analysis, Communications, process development, and software development. As the Senior IT Portfolio and Project Manager in George Mason University’s Information Technology Services (ITS), he leads Mason’s IT Governance processes, oversees the management of the IT Project Portfolio, and provides project management support and leadership across projects in all areas of ITS. Mr. Prette led large, university-wide project implementations such as Two Factor Authentication (2FA), Office 365, IT Service Management (ITSM) and more. In addition to his work at Mason, Mr. Prette currently chairs the EDUCAUSE Project Management Community Group.

Mr. Prette holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering, both from the University of Notre Dame. He obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in 2004 and is a 2011 alumnus of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute.
