MSTC | Technology Strategist

Scott Pleasants is the Coordinator for Business Partnership at CVCC and serves as the  Strategic Innovation Advisor for Innovate Lynchburg.  As a technology professional, Scott is passionate about helping organizations to see the world “possible”.

He began his career through the influence of his parents and teachers when he was introduced to the Apple II+ and Apple Logo.  He saw the computer as a way of helping others and began his first company at 14. Since then, he has had the privilege of helping launch several startups and is active in helping new ideas come to life.

Throughout his career, he has lived by a simple idea that he could achieve anything in life as long as he was helping others get what they want first.

Whether it is starting from a napkin or helping existing companies find new verticals with existing products, Scott’s passion for technology is contagious and has triggered many requests from business leaders and entrepreneurs to help them establish their technology and their corporate culture.  His innovative, energetic style helps organizations to unleash their creativity and to not see things as they are today, but rather what they can become. Because of his energy, he was selected to serve on the National Security Advisory Board for Presidential Candidate Ben Carson for his expertise in technology and matters of national security.

By this, another idea was born helping companies and startups to see their communities as an opportunity; an opportunity to impact lives.  The concept is simple:  when we are engaged, we can solve some of the world’s most pressing problems through our innovative thinking as business leaders and entrepreneurs. By creating a movement of companies that provide jobs, inspire our youth, and simply invest in people, we can change the direction of our communities here and around the world.

He lives best at 100,000 ft. and believes that a simple idea has the power to change the world.

Additionally, he has been actively involved in bringing technology jobs to our region such as Microsoft, Amazon, Apple and Tesla. Because he knows that networking is a contact sport, he is working across the state to help make our region “a remote workers paradise.”

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Intercultural Studies and a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization (MBA) from Northeastern University and is a distinguished US Army Veteran.  He currently serves on the Board for Astronauts Scholarship Foundation Accelerator, the Strategic Innovation Advisor for Innovate Lynchburg,  NIST-NICE Cyber Framework, Advisor for the National Center for Healthy Veterans and is a US Army ROTC Mentor.
